Morgan Crees (Far Left) and Tyme Boettcher (Far Right) advance to the State Finals after winning their divisions.

On Sunday, nine Guthrie and Adair County youth gave it their best shot to advance to the Knights of Columbus State Free-Throw Competition in April. Two Panora girls performed well enough at the Audubon High School gymnasium to make it to the next level. Morgan Crees won the nine-year-old division, while Tyme Boettcher bested the eleven-year-olds.

Crees made 18 of 25 shots while 21 of Boettcher’s 25 sunk through the hoop. Crees and Boettcher competed among the top shooters from five districts to make up the Audubon regional. As division winners, they advance to the state competition at Grinnell College on Sunday, April 15th. The finals begin inside Darby Gymnasium at 1pm.

The State Contest is the final leg of the competition. However, if their scores are high enough at state, they may receive an international Free Throw Championship trophy and a personal letter of congratulations from Supreme Knight Carl Anderson.
