A new fundraiser event is happening next month at the Greene Room events center at Wild Rose in Jefferson.
The Bringing Optimism and Opportunity to Students and Teachers (BOOST) organization will host their first-ever BOOST Bash event on March 24th. BOOST member Chris Deal says their main focus is to help teachers with supplemental funds to pay for supplies and experiences for the students.
“Teachers, they put in an incredible amount of time and an incredible amount of effort, and there’s a lot of times where they say to themselves, ‘Man I would love to be able to do this or I wish we could go here.’ We look at things, whether it’s classroom kits or field trips and things, that would absolutely add to the experience that our students and our children are going to have while they go through the Greene County Schools, providing those that wouldn’t be happening otherwise.”
BOOST member Matt Wetrich says he sees first-hand how valuable teachers are and why he wanted to get involved.
“Everytime we go to parent-teacher conferences I am almost on my knees in appreciation. It is so much work that I don’t know if a lot of folks realize what goes into educating a classroom of children, and just the dynamics, the challenges of working with kids, and then growing them and bringing them up as well-rounded adults.”
Doors open at 5pm, followed by a meal at 6:30pm and an auction will wrap up the evening. Kevin Richards and Kevin Paulson will be the emcees. Tickets are $25 per person.
