Greene County junior guard Trey Hinote topped the 900 mark in career points scored with a 26 point effort in the Rams’ Class 2A District 15 loss to Des Moines Christian on Feb. 15. Hinote completes his junior campaign with 906 points, just 94 away from the 1,000 point mark, a milestone for high school basketball players. He averaged 16.9 points as game as a junior, 15.2 as a sophomore, and 8.7 points per game as a freshman. His career average is nearly 14 points per game.
The Heart of Iowa Activities Conference all-conference selections won’t be announced until all conference schools have completed their seasons. Hinote was a first team all-conference selection last year.
The Rams went 12-11 this season after finishing 14-8 a season ago. Those are the first back-to-back winning seasons in the six seasons the Rams have played as Greene County. The Rams last had three winning seasons in a row when they were Jefferson-Scranton in 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10.
