The man charged with overtaking the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers football program is excited to get the offseason work started. Last month, ADM activities director Reece Satre announced the hiring of Garrison Carter as the new head coach of the Tiger football program, taking the reins from Mike Whisner after 24 seasons on the job. Carter comes to ADM from eastern Iowa after a four-year stint as the head football coach at Washington Community Schools. He led the Demons to a 29-12 record with three appearances in the Class 3A playoffs.
The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with Carter Wednesday morning via phone. He says a desire for a new challenge led him to accepting the head football coach position of ADM. “The easy thing for me to do would be to stay at Washington and continue to win six, seven, or eight games a year. I think this program here will continue to run at that high level,” Carter said, “It’s time for a new challenge and I’m excited to get into central Iowa and go play some of the state’s best.”
Before taking over the Demons football program in 2013, Carter was the head football coach of another Raccoon Valley Radio listening area school, the Ogden Bulldogs. Listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network local sports page tomorrow to hear Carter’s thoughts on his time as the head football coach of the Bulldogs.
