The final eight teams vying for a Class 2A state championship in girls basketball this week have all posted point differentials above 15 points per game. Point differential is determined by the number of points a squad’s scored offensively subtracted by the amount of points a team’s defense allows. You take the difference and divide it by the number of games each team’s played. The Panorama Panthers are the fourth best team in Class 2A basketball in point differential entering the state tournament at plus 25 points per game. Panorama’s scored 1,406 total points while allowing 807 defensively, a difference of 599 points. Only two teams in the state tournament have a better point differential than Panorama. Top-seeded Treynor has a point differential of 741 points, an average of 32.2 points per game. The other team is Panorama’s quarterfinal opponent, the North Union Warriors, whose point differential sits at 717 points, an average of 31 points per game.
Panorama and North Union square off in the final Class 2A quarterfinal game at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network will have live play-by-play coverage of the game from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on True Country K 107.9 beginning with pregame comments around 11:15 a.m.
