The ACGC basketball teams held their annual awards banquet on Sunday.
On the girls side, junior Jadeyn Carrick was named the season’s MVP. Carrick broke the season scoring record for the ACGC girls, reaching 169 points in 22 games. Other notable accolades include the Most Improved Junior award, which went to Genevieve Hoover. Hoover scored a career high 17 against West Central Valley off a Charger record five made three-pointers. She also finished the season with the highest three-point percentage in Charger girls history, with 37.5%. The Debbie Black Hustle Award went to Olivia Laabs. Laabs was tied for second in steals, third in assists, and fourth in rebounds this season.
For the Charger boys, senior Caden Wardyn was named MVP. Wardyn averaged just over 12 points and nearly six rebounds per game in his final season. Additionally, the Defensive Player of the Year honor went to Noah Nelsen. Nelsen was tied with Wardyn for the team lead in steals with 23 on the year. All-Conference selections won’t be made official until the Panorama girls and Van Meter boys exit state tournament play.
