Several members of the community met Tuesday evening at the Perry Public Library to meet a candidate for the United States Congress.
Cindy Axne is one of the seven democratic candidates for the 3rd Congressional District, seeking to unseat republican Representative David Young. She spoke to the audience about her history and plans if elected to Congress. She touted herself as “the hardest working” candidate in Iowa, saying she’s been all over the 3rd District in the past several months. Her visit to Perry was her 70th meet and greet of her campaign. She also answered several questions posed by the attendees, ranging from agriculture to education.
In addition to Axne, Warren Varley spoke briefly to the audience. Varley is running for the Iowa House of Representatives, seeking to unseat republican Representative Clel Baudler, who represents Guthrie County as well as Perry.
