The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
County Auditor Marci McClellan addressed the Board on upcoming purchase orders for new election machines. McClellan recommended to stay with Adkins Election Services. She especially preferred Adkins’ touch screen, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible machine, which can also be used for absentee balloting. The current provider also offered a 5% discount if purchased shortly after July 1st.
McClellan felt that the machines from Matt Parrot, the other company submitting a bid, were cumbersome and not visually friendly for ADA compatibility. Another advantage for Adkins was their ability to transfer files electronically, whereas Matt Parrot required mail submissions for files. Thus the Board approved Adkins at a total cost of just under $80,000, after the discount.
Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson also updated the Board on a possible full time custodial position. Thompson would like an additional staff member to help balance some duties at the courthouse and the Board agreed to advertise for this position. The Board also encouraged Thompson to work with Sheriff Arganbright on possible solutions to alleviate some space in the County Jail.
