Perry School Board Special

The Perry School Board will convene this Monday for their March regular session, a week earlier than normal.

The reason for the change is that next week is spring break for the District, and they wanted to have their meeting while school was still in session. The meeting will begin with a report from the secondary math teachers, who recently attended the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference. Next, they will consider the publication of the proposed 2018-19 budget and set a date for the public hearing. Additionally, they will consider a budget guarantee resolution. They will also discuss next year’s school calendar, which begins August 23, 2018 and ends May 29, 2019.

The Board will then consider bids for technology switches and laptops. All of the technology switches in the District are in need of replacing, as are 284 laptops and 120 Chromebooks. The prices for the projects are expected to be below $148,000 each. Other items on the agenda include: consideration of the 2018-19 insurance plan and rates; an agreement with a background check company; and an agreement between Perry and the University of Northern Iowa for student teacher placement.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held Monday at 6 p.m. in the high school’s Brady Library.
