The waiting has begun for the Grand View Women’s Basketball program as they await tomorrow’s NAIA Division I Selection Show and news on if their 2017-18 season will continue. If the Lady Vikings earn an at-large berth in the tournament, West Central Valley alum Bailee Arnburg will be one of the reasons why. Arnburg is nearing the end of a breakout season for the Grand View Women’s basketball team, scoring 349 points, grabbing 120 total rebounds, and dishing out a team-best 95 assists.

Grand View co Womens basketball coach Kelli Greenway was a guest on Monday’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page and raved about Arnburg’s progression inside the Lady Vikings program. “The number one thing that Bailee (Arnburg) has done is buy into the process. She played on our JV team as a freshman, watched her as a sophomore spend most of the year on the bench. ,” Greenway said, “What she finally realized is that she wasn’t tapping into her full potential, and, complete credit to her, she started figuring this out at the end of her sophomore year and over this last summer she really committed to getting herself better.”

Greenway adds she got better by dedicating more of her time to offseason weight training and putting up extra shots in the gym. Her improvement led to Arnburg starting all 33 games so far this winter for the Lady Vikings. The Grand View Women’s Basketball team sits with an overall record of 23-10, making it to the semifinals of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament before falling to top-seeded, the Central Missouri University Eagles, 91-81, Saturday in Fayette Missouri.
