There are a few events and registration deadlines coming up with the Greene County 4-H program.
4-H’ers interested in showing swine at this year’s county fair are required to attend the weigh-in event this Saturday at the Greene County Fairgrounds. It is specifically for those 4-H’ers showing rate-of-gain or production class swine. It will take place from 8 to 9:30am. Then this Sunday is the annual Greenbrier 4-H Club’s basketball tournament starting at 1pm at the Scranton Community Center. The public is invited to the Sunday event.
Cattle Kids registration deadline also is coming up this Friday. It is for anyone in first through third grades, prior to becoming an actual 4-H’er. Kids will learn how to care for cattle and proper show techniques. Cattle Kids participants must also attend at least two of the four meeting dates in the coming months to be eligible to show cattle at the county fair. The enrollment fee is $20 per child.
Call 386-2138 or stop by the Extension office for more information on any of the upcoming events or activities with the 4-H program.
