The Greene County Relay for Life main event is scheduled for Saturday, April 21st.

One of the major highlights of the event is honoring the cancer survivors. Relay Leadership Team and Survivor Committee member Sharon Stalder talks about how they recognize all of the Greene County cancer survivors during their event next month.

“We honor the survivors with their own special little area and time of reflection, have a little speaker (and) have some refreshments. It’s just good to get survivors together so they can rub shoulders, pat backs, give hugs, just be present with one another. (It’s) A very integral part as well.”

Stalder notes that all previous cancer survivors receive a letter from the American Cancer Society inviting them to participate in the main Greene County event, as well as the survivor portion. All cancer survivors will also receive a specialized t-shirt. The letters will be sent out March 19th.
