The school district is proposing an overall $35.48 million project for a new high school, regional career academy, new gymnasium and performing arts center and retrofitting the current high school into a middle school. The proposed bond is for $21.48 million.
According to OPN Architects, the architect firm handling the project, $12.5 million of the total project cost is slated for the new high school. The new site and site development, west of American Athletic Incorporated on the south side of Highway 30, is projected to cost $6.1 million. Other areas of the project include: $5 million for the regional career academy, $3.75 million for the new gymnasium, $3.58 million for owner’s cost, $2.85 million for a new performing arts center and $1.7 million to renovate the current high school into a middle school.

OPN also released anticipated funding for the project. Taxpayers in the school district will vote on the proposed $21.48 million bond, which is about 61%-percent of the total project cost. Other funding resources include: Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation giving $4.5 million for the gym and performing arts center, Greene County Supervisors using up to $5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for the career academy, $4.5 million of Voter-Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) as well as Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) funds. Plus there is a $100,000 pledge from Dick and Delores Finch towards the project.
