The Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.
Following a public hearing, the Council approved the budget for the upcoming fiscal year as presented. They then approved the third reading of an ordinance to eliminate time restrictions to remove snow and ice from sidewalks. The Council also approved $8,000 towards a needs assessment for renovations to Mitchell Park. The assessment team will examine the bathhouse facility in particular to see if they can simply add on, rather than totally renovate the bathrooms.
Other action items approved by the Council include: a $1,000 application for the Community Development Block Grant program through Region XII, accepting a $200 bid for salvage items from a local home and tearing down a property at 905 Grant Street. The Council also set a public hearing, at their next meeting, for a new code of ordinances. The meeting concluded with ongoing discussion on police services.
