Since the beginning of 2018, individuals enrolled in Medicare have been sent new insurance cards. Dallas County Hospital has a few things you should know regarding your new card, even if you haven’t received it yet.

The intention of the new cards is to help protect the individual’s identity, and as such they will no longer list Social Security Numbers. The cards will arrive in the mail, if they haven’t already, and once you receive your new card you should immediately destroy your old card. DCH reminds you to bring your card to every appointment you have, and they assure people they are aware of the new cards and are ready to accept them. Medicare also reminds people to beware of individuals contacting them about their new card. The card number should be treated as if it were your Social Security or credit card numbers. Medicare officials emphasize they will never contact an individual uninvited to ask for personal information.
