West Central Valley Wildcat

A pair of girls athletes from West Central Valley Community Schools posted top-10 finishes in their respective field event at the 25th Annual Iowa State Girls High School Classic. The Wildcats brought five female athletes to the annual indoor meet hosted by Iowa State University in Ames Monday afternoon including senior Grace Dupuy, sophomore Jenna Merical, sophomore Aliyah Dickson, freshman Beverly McKenna, and freshman Emily Escoto.

Dupuy, a two-time state qualifier in the shot put, placed fifth out of 125 girls competing with a top measured throw of 36′ 10″. The top four tosses measured over 37′ 5″ led by Tipton junior Jamie Kofron with the top throw of 40′ 11″. Merical cleared 5 feet in the girls high jump competition, placing her in a six-way tie for eighth place. The next best result for West Central Valley came from McKenna in the 60-meter dash, clocking the 62nd best time at 8.93 seconds.

The West Central Valley girls track team resumes their indoor season on Friday, March 23, taking the whole team to compete in the Jenner Invitational Indoor meet hosted by Graceland University.
