A pair of former Guthrie County High School basketball stars helped the Grand View Women’s Basketball team advance to the first NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship in program history. 2015 graduates Bailee Arnburg of West Central Valley and Jessi Campbell of Panorama are nearing the end of their junior seasons for the Lady Vikings Women’s basketball team. Arnburg has started in all 33 games this winter for Grand View, while Campbell came off the bench in 20 games.

The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke with Arnburg last weekend as the Grand View Womens Basketball team was heading up to Billings, Montana for this weeks tournament championship. She says the once high school rivals became fast friends. “We were actually roommates my freshman year,” Arnburg said, “Over the years, we haven’t thought of ourselves as rivals ever. When we came to Grand View, we realized we were teammates so we’ve actually connected really well, both on the court and off the court.”

Arnburg and Campell aren’t the only former high school standouts from the Raccoon Valley listening area competing for the Grand View University Lady Vikings squad. 2017 graduates Sydney Bertman of ADM and Mackenzie Roberts of Van Meter have played a role off the bench this winter in their true freshman season. The Vikings will debut in the national championship against No. 1-seeded Shawnee State (Ohio), with tip-off set for 7:15 central standard time at Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark in Billings, Montana.
