The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular budgeting session Thursday.
Iowa Governmental Health Care Plan (IGHCP) Consultant Denise Ballard facilitated discussion with the Board on health insurance plan changes. IGHCP wanted to make the change as it would save about $119,000. There were also very few differences between the two plans, with the exception of some chiropractors. Ballard informed the Board that it would be possible to negotiate certain physicians and medical professionals into the network. She also felt Wellmark’s customer service was not worth the increase in premium costs. The Board approved renewal with IGHCP at 1.5% and agreed to stay with the group as it moves forward from Alliance Select to Blue Choice.
The meeting concluded with discussion on fence repairs at the County Farm with County Facilities Manager Brandon Thompson.
