
Filing deadline was Friday for federal and state elected offices in Iowa.
With the recent announcement by four-term House Representative District 47 Chip Baltimore not seeking re-election, that brings on three Republican candidates heading into the June primary. According to the Secretary of State’s website, the candidates include: Donald Batt and Victoria Sinclair both of Boone, and Phil Thompson of Jefferson. There is also one Democratic candidate with David Weaver of Rippey and one Libertarian candidate with Patrick Shaw of Boone. District 47 consists of all of Greene County and most of Boone County.

As for US Congressional District 4, which includes Greene County, there is a six candidate race. Two Republicans are going to head into the June primary with incumbent Steve King and Cyndi Hanson of Sioux City. Three Democratic candidates vying for the seat include: Leann Jacobsen of Spencer, John Paschen of Ames and JD Scholten of Sioux City. There’s also one Libertarian candidate with Charles Aldrich of Clarion running.
The primary will be held on June 5th.
