The first year of high school soccer for the Greene County Rams has helped boost the number of Spring sports athletes at Greene County High. Established programs such as track & field and golf are also showing solid numbers. In all, around 140 high school Rams are out for at least one sport, and a handful are trying both soccer and track & field.

The boys’ track & field squad under the direction of head coach Chad Morton reports nearly 40 on the team, with Derek Merk’s girls’ squad listing 24. Carl Behne has a squad of 29 out for boys’ soccer and Marilyn Tasler has 21 girls out for soccer. In golf, boys’ coach Dave Destival’s roster numbers 13, with 12 out for girls’ golf under the coaching of Heath Telleen.

First year activities director Mitch Moore, along with the Greene County coaching staff, has emphasized participation and competition, and the Fall, Winter, and now, Spring, sports seasons, have all shown an increase in participation compared to the 2016-17 school year.
