The newly state recognized Libertarian Party is having their state convention this weekend.
Thomas and Susan Laehn will be representing Greene County at the state convention, which will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Johnston from March 23rd through the 25th. Thomas talks about what is going to happen at the state convention.
“It’s a great opportunity for the party to start building a party organization at the precinct, county and state levels. We are organizing precinct captains, county chairs and electing delegates to our statewide Libertarian Party committee. It’s going to be a great convention.”
While Thomas says there’s no specific platform topics he’ll bring with him from Greene County, he’s excited to work on those as well at the convention.
“Most importantly, to elect our delegates to the statewide committee, which will really take the lead in revising our platform in the year ahead.”
Delegates that are elected to the state committee will represent Iowa at the National Libertarian Party Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 30th.
