IMG_2213Guthrie County Hospital held their monthly Lunch and Learn seminar yesterday afternoon. Dr. Josh Strehle presented on men’s health.

Strehle mentioned that men are less likely to see a doctor on a regular basis, which leads to a lengthier delay in discovering diseases and disorders. Heart disease and cancer are the leading causes of death among men, affecting nearly half in America.

Strehle encourages men to study their health as soon as possible. “Once you get into your early thirties, you’re going to want to talk to your family. Get to know your family history. Because that is going to maybe trigger some questions when they go see their regular doctor.”

He also discussed other conditions that are often overlooked in men, such as depression and breast cancer. He encouraged those present to spread awareness for men’s health, particularly in June and November. June is the typical month for men’s health awareness, while the popularity of “No Shave November” gave rise to “Movember” awareness campaigns.
