The annual Meals for the Heartland event is coming at the beginning of April, and there are still several volunteer opportunities available.

A few dozen more people are needed to help pack the 30,000 meals for the event, which will take place on Wednesday, April 4th at the Perry Lutheran Home. Additionally, donations are still needed to help cover the cost of the food to be put into each boxed meal to be sent around the world. Now in its third year, Meals for the Heartland was started as a way to engage both the residents of the Perry Lutheran Home and the community, while also helping to feed the hungry.

At last year’s event, they packaged over 22,000 meals in 400 boxes, and this year they’re setting their sights even higher.
