The Samuels Group and Design Alliance, the construction managers and architecture firm for the new Dallas County Law Enforcement Center, respectively, recently gave an update on the $22.9 million project.
They showed the Board of Supervisors an updated construction schedule, which puts the final completion date around August 23, 2019. The project remains on schedule, despite some delays. They also discussed the finalized costs for all the construction bid packages, which came in at $16,794,308.
When added to other costs, the current overall cost for the project is just over $22 million, which includes nearly $300,000 for contingency costs. That puts the project under budget by a variance of around $780,000. Samuels Group President Sid Samuels said the contingency cost plus the variance, which is sitting at just over $1 million, is the current total project contingency. He explained that its an important figure to monitor as potential change orders during construction could come in.
After his update, Samuels then presented the Supervisors with the first group pay application for the project, which included four requests totalling around $275,000. He explained, the County will pay group sums to the Samuels Group, and they will in turn pay the contractors. The Board approved the pay application.
