The inaugural soccer match for the Greene County boys went well with Carl Behne’s team winning 4-3 in overtime over Humboldt on a cold and windy Monday night in Grand Junction. The Rams will try for a 2-0 start to the season later today by hosting Carroll High in Grand Junction. It’s a 4:30 p.m. varsity start with JV action to follow.

Coach Behne talks about the talent on the team. “We have some talent on this team. We have a couple foreign exchange students that are very strong in the soccer skills. We’ve also got some other boys that have played, including one that played in the shared program last year in Boone. Others have played recreational and club soccer for a  number of years and took a couple of years off because their wasn’t a program here, but we’re not an extremely infantile team in development. I think we’ll surprise some folks. Opponents may come in, at least early in the season, thinking it’s an easy “W” for them, but we’re going to give them a little surprise.”
