panoraOn Tuesday, The Panora Parks and Recreation Board secured enough funds from their donation drive to purchase two new scoreboards at Michael Mills Park. While that project will see completion soon, the department is thinking of additional ways to improve recreational life in the community. One possible future project is field expansion.

Parks and Rec Board Vice Chair Ismael Galvan describes possible field enhancements at Michael Mills. “We’d love to put in another baseball field down there. We have the area there and the space which I believe we may be able to. That would be a great project for us that we could get into in the future. I know that the towns are growing and the kids are growing. There’s more kids these days, and it’d be good to have something extra for them to have practice on.”

Galvan hopes that any future additions will help benefit youth recreational activities in Panora and surrounding communities. After purchasing and installing the scoreboards, the leftover funds will go towards general upkeep and field maintenance for the existing fields.
