Monday’s light blanket of fresh snow caused another event postponement for the Panorama golf programs. The Panther boys and girls golf teams were set to play the Woodward Golf Club course against West Central Activities Conference members AC/GC and Woodward-Granger before the weather forced its delay. The teams will try to get the meet in next Thursday, April 19 with tee time set for 4 p.m. This is the third nine-hole meet the Panorama Panthers have either postponed or canceled due to the weather since April 1. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network had Panorama boys golf coach David Van Ahn as a guest on last night’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports. Van Ahn says the weather forecasts aren’t keeping his kids from competition and improving their putting game. “I set up a putting course with different lengths of putt,” Van Ahn said, “Putting the ball underneath chairs, they couldn’t see the cup when they’re putting like you would if you were on a green where you can’t see the cup, but you know where it’s at.”

Van Ahn adds he’s used the putting course as a way to cause internal competition and even gave away candy bars as incentives for the winners of the drill. The Panorama boys golf team hopes to open their competition season Thursday at a tournament hosted by Des Moines Christian Community Schools. The event tees off around 9 a.m. from Jester Park in Granger.
