Guthrie SheriffA Casey man was recently charged with felony drug possession.

Ronald Emgarten was arrested on a Class D Felony charge for possession of a controlled substance, his third or subsequent offense. The 54-year-old was also charged with a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from a traffic stop conducted on April 8th at mile marker 82 on Interstate-80. The driver was pulled over and given a separate charge, while Emgarten was a passenger. After the driver was cited, Officer William Wedemeyer conducted a separate search and found a bag of methamphetamine and two smoking devices in the passenger side air vents.

Emgarten was subsequently booked at the Adair County Jail before being transferred to the Guthrie County Jail. He posted a $5,000 bond on April 10th and is awaiting his preliminary hearing on Thursday. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information, as it becomes official.
