ADM Tigers

A dozen central Iowa high school girls track programs competed against one another in Grimes Tuesday in the annual DCG Fillies Invite. The Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers finished in sixth place in the overall team standings with 63 points. Dallas Center-Grimes claimed the 2018 DCG Fillies team championship with 131.5 points. Three upperclassmen highlighted ADM with first-place performances in four events.

Senior Keaton Kester continues her reign as the top sprinter in the area, taking first place honors in the 100 and 200-meter dash races. She clocked 100 meters in 12.56 seconds and 200 meters in 25.47 seconds. Junior Sadie Jurgens topped the field in the 800-meter run, clocking a half mile in 2:23.76. Finally, junior Anna Kenny squeaked out a win in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:08.47, less than one second faster than the field. The ADM girls track team’s final chance to improve their results before the cutoff for the Drake Relays is tonight at the Newton Cardinal Invitational. First events start around 4:30 p.m. from Newton HA Lynn Stadium.

The ADM boys track team had their latest track meet at Ballard get canceled due to the weather. The Tigers boys track team’s last meet before the Drake Relays cutoff is tonight when they compete in the Chuck Silvey Invitational in Urbandale.
