Tonight marks the first home game of the season for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls soccer team as the squad hosts their annual 2018 ADM Girls Soccer Invitational. Several teams from all across Iowa will descend on Adel today and tomorrow for the event including Bondurant-Farrar, Council Bluffs St Alberts, Clear Creek-Amana, Des Moines Hoover, Gilbert, Glenwood, Norwalk, Pella, Sioux City Heelan, and Waverly-Shell Rock. The games are spread out amongst three fields in Adel including ADM Stadium, the ADM High School Practice Fields, and Adel’s Island Park. ADM head girls soccer coach Kelsey Gaffney tells Raccoon Valley Radio she likes the event because it involves a lot of quality teams from each region of the state. “A lot of the teams that come to our tournament are typically teams that make it to state in (Class) 1A or 2A,” Gaffney said, “It’s a great opportunity to test the team and all the teams who come to our tournament because its a lot to play three games in two days.”

All tournament games will feature two 30 minute halves instead of the traditional 40-minute halves in a regular season match. The ADM girls soccer team opens the tournament tonight at 6:30 p.m., hosting Des Moines Hoover at ADM Stadium.
