The next Lifelong Learners event at the Perry Public Library is coming this Tuesday, and it will focus on Amish culture.

Guest speakers Dianne and Don Kramer of Dyersville, Iowa, will share a presentation called “Our Neighbors the Amish.” They will educate attendees about the history, beliefs, and customs of the Amish in Iowa, while also sharing some Pennsylvania Dutch English. There will also be Amish food and other refreshments available. Library Director Mary Murphy believes the event will be both entertaining and informative. “If you’ve never lived by the Amish, or have any conversations, they’re just like you and me. They just have a different belief system. People are kind of fascinated with this culture, and so I look at it as an opportunity to be more informed about people that live in our state and are a very major force.”

The event is free and open to the public and will be held this Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the library’s large meeting room. For more information, stop in or call the Perry Library at 515-465-3569.
