U.S. Congressman David Young is currently accepting submissions for this year’s Congressional Art Competition.

The U.S. House of Representatives has hosted the annual youth art competition, “An Artistic Discovery,” since 1982. A winner is selected from each congressional district and their artwork is displayed for a year in the U.S. Capitol. The contest through Young’s Office is open to high school students in Iowa’s Third Congressional District, which includes Guthrie and Adair Counties.

In addition to the artwork being displayed, the winner from Young’s district will receive two round-trip plane tickets to Washington D.C. to attend the awards reception. The winner may also be eligible to receive an art college scholarship. The deadline to submit entries is Monday.
