Jefferson RAGBRAI Final LogoAbout 100 people attended the Jefferson RAGBRAI theme and logo reveal party at the Milwaukee Depot Monday night.

This year’s theme for when the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) makes an overnight stop in Jefferson on July 23rd is “Highway to Bells.” Executive Co-Chair Matt Wetrich says the theme was inspired after they booked crowd favorite Hairball to be the main musical act that Monday night.

“I have to give credit to Phil Heisterkamp. We were kicking around ideas and that came out of his mouth. And so we were like, ‘Whoa yeah, we like that.’ And Bridgette, his wife, came up with the design. So the Heisterkamps were big in the design and creative process. We’re excited to have them on our team for sure.”

There was also the unveiling of Jefferson Matters: Main Street Tower View Team’s fourth public piano. It was created by Tony Sims of Dana from his art studio, Middle of Nowehere Studio. It has the RAGBRAI theme and portraits of local people who have participated in RAGBRAI. The evening also included a promotional video, which included local musicians, and a video message from some of the musicians with Hairball as well.
