ADM Tigers

After having the first three meets of the season canceled due to weather, ADM Stadium in Adel finally got a chance to host a home track and field meet Tuesday. The ADM Girls Tiger Invitational featured athletes from seven central Iowa schools include Boone, Dallas Center-Grimes, Des Moines Hoover, Des Moines North, Perry, and Waukee junior varsity. The ADM Tigers placed first in seven total events, winning their home meet with 164 points. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with ADM girls track coach Bart Mueller after the meet and he said the victory was a total team effort. “There were so many girls who contributed, some in major ways with some outstanding performances, but also across the board,” Mueller said, “It’s exciting for the girls, getting a nice night (of weather) and to win a meet too.”

Top performances for ADM includes senior Keaton Kester in the 100 meter (12.53) and 200 meter (25.74) dashes. Junior Sadie Jurgens won gold in both the 1500 meter (5:17.02), and 3000 meter (11:19.41) runs while sophomore Josi Lonneman placed first in the long jump (15′ 7.75″). ADM won two relay events as well; the 800 sprint medley (J Lonneman, K Kester, Ellie Hook, and Lizzy Lohmann-1:57.34), and the shuttle hurdle relay (Kristen Baier, Abigail Calligan, Holland Zwank, and Sami Schepers-1:10.80.). The ADM girls track team will next compete Thursday in the Carlisle Wildcat Invitational. First events begin around 4:30 p.m. from Carslile High School.
