ADM senior Keaton Kester had the highlight of the day on Friday for Raccoon Valley Radio area athletes when she placed fourth in the Drake Relays 100 meter dash for high school girls. Kester qualified from the 32 person preliminary to the eight person final with a prelim time of 12:61 seconds, which put her in as the seventh fastest qualifier. The Drake University recruit ran 12.28 seconds in the final to finish in fourth place.
ADM’s other events at Drake on Friday included the girls’ sprint medley relay, which placed 19th in 1:52.88 with Josi Lonneman, Lizzy Lohmann, Anna Kenny, and Sadie Juergens. Lucas Heitz ran the prelims of the 110 meter high hurdles and was fourth in his heat and eleventh overall in the field of 32 with a time of 15.14 seconds.
Panorama’s Morgan Johnk was fifth in her heat and 14th overall in the 100 meter hurdles preliminary in 15.71 seconds.
Three area girls’ 4 x 100 meter relays were in action late Friday afternoon. ADM ran the blue oval in 53.16 seconds with Lonneman, Sami Schepers, Carely Osgood, and Kenny. Greene County was timed in 52.21 seconds, a season best, with Melanie Doran, Brianna Osterson, Lilly Muir, and Megan Durbin, who won the Drake Relays girls’ high jump title just 24 hours earlier. Panorama was clocked in 52.30, also a season best, with Carson Fisher, Johnk, Bailey Beckman, and Devyn Kemble. None of the three relays from the area were in the top 50 in the 80 team event. The Rams were 56th, Panthers 58th, and Tigers 75th.
