The Greene County high school boys’ golf team played in warm and windy conditions on Thursday at the Woodlyn Hills Golf Course and won a triangular with North Polk (Alleman) and host Saydel (Des Moines). Coach Dave Destival’s Rams shot 172 with 181 by the Comets and 182 for the Eagles. Greene County senior Elijah Block was meet medalist at 40 and fellow senior Ben Wilkins was runner-up medalist. Sophomore Jadon Block and Wilkins both shot 42 with Wilkins getting the card back win for second. Curtis Muir shot 48 to round out the four scores for the Rams. The Greene County boys play today in Dayton at the Southeast Valley Tournament.

Coach Heath Telleen’s girls’ team lost vs. Carroll High in Carroll on Thursday. The coach said he rested two-time State tournament qualifier Rachael Danielson because the Rams are in the 18-hole Roland-Story tournament at Story City today. Despite not having Danielson, who is still recovering from knee surgery, the coach reported the Rams shot their second lowest score of the season at 209. Carroll won easily with a score of 187. Ellie Madson shot 48 to lead the Rams. Madison was followed by Kaitlyn McColley 52, Serenity Blair 54, and Mariah Block 55.

“The whole team is gaining confidence right now. It should be a fun end to the season,” the Coach Telleen added.
