The West Central Valley School District was recently recognized for their safety standards in the workplace. West Central Valley and Cumberland-Anita-Messina both received Work Comp Awards through the Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB) Safety Group Insurance Program.

The program began in the 1970’s as a way to provide affordable property and casualty insurance coverage for school districts, and emphasizes utilizing local agents and minimizing risk. The IASB works with Jester Insurance Services Inc. and EMC Insurance Companies, both headquartered in Des Moines. Since 1974 the plan has returned more than $90 million to Iowa schools.
