PACES Director Mary Hillman accepts Bock Foundation Grant

The Bock Family Foundation in Perry awarded nearly $64,000 to 34 recipients at their spring grant presentation Wednesday afternoon.

Grant recipients gathered in the Perry Public Library, and each one explained the projects or services their grants will be used for. Some of the larger grants awarded included: $4,000 to First United Methodist Church of Perry for new carpet in the sanctuary; $4,000 to HomeCare Services of Dallas County for aide services; $5,000 to Dallas County Conservation for the Raccoon River Valley Trail and High Trestle Trail connector; $5,000 to Genesis Development toward mental health therapy costs at Perry Schools, and more than $5,000 to five different projects for the Perry School District.

The largest grant was given to Perry’s Academic, Cultural, and Enrichment Services (PACES), in the amount of $7,000, which will go towards their summer program. All total, the Foundation gave $63,753.94 to the 34 recipients. Since its creation in 2002, the Foundation has awarded more than $1,764,000 to local organizations. Dallas County Hospital Foundation: $1,100 for phlebotomy chair for DCH Laboratory
HomeCare Services, Inc of Dallas County: $4,000 for home care aide services
Perry Area Emergency Food Council: $2,500 for HVAC system for food pantry
Perry Area Child Development Center: $3,000 for scholarships
Perry Area Child Development Center: $1,400 for carpet cleaning
New Opportunities, Inc: $2,000 for repairs in three Perry Head Start classrooms
Spring Valley Assisted Living: $500 towards exercise equipment
Perry Lutheran Home: $500 towards exercise equipment
Perry Fine Arts: $600 for Grand Avenue Ruckus performance on July 4th
Perry Alano Club: $2,500 towards ADA renovations
Dallas County Habitat for Humanity: $2,500 towards homeownership for a Perry family
Art on the Prairie: $1,500 towards the Railroad Streetscape sculpture
Perry Historic Preservation Commission: $2,570 to preserve “Greatest Generation” memorials
Relay for Life of Dallas County: $1,000 towards equipment rental for events
PRESBY Child Care Center: $1,000 towards child care center
Freedom for Youth Ministries: $1,000 for summer program
Hispanics United for Perry: $2,000 for scholarships
Genesis Development: $5,000 toward mental health therapy costs at Perry Schools

DeSoto Police Department: $673.94 to purchase two body armor vests
