Windy weather conditions didn’t keep the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys golf team from continuing their successful stint inside the Raccoon River Conference Monday. The Tigers welcomed the Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays to the River Valley Golf Course for a nine-hole dual meet ahead of next week’s conference tournament. ADM had the two lowest scoring individual marks, winning the event with a collective mark of 165. Bondurant-Farrar finished with 188 points. The schools played the event despite wind gusts howling over 30 miles per hour at times. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network caught up with ADM head golf coach Kelly Roder after the meet, and he said the team’s still improving. “With four letterwinners coming back, my expectations were a little high coming out of the gate,” Roder said, “(We) didn’t play a lot earlier in the year due to our schedule and the weather but the scores have improved steadily over the last week and a half.”
Senior Micah Moyer registered another medalist performance for ADM, shooting a two-over 38. Moyer spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio after the meet and talked about playing golf under such windy conditions. “When the winds (blowing) into you, you know how many clubs you need to hit up and how much it will take off your shots,” Moyer said, “Getting use to it at first was difficult but especially the last few holes, we used to it and it was a lot better.”
Rounding out ADM’s scores from last night include junior Adam O’Connor as the dual’s runner-up medalist with a 41. Senior Matthew West and freshman Grant Garton rounded out the Tigers team score with each golfer scoring a 43. Both ADM golf teams are in Atlantic today for an 18-hole varsity tournament. Tee time is 11 a.m. from the Atlantic Nishna Hills Golf Course.
