national weather serviceAs we begin to see rainfall early Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service has issued severe weather related information for our primary coverage area.

The National Weather Service reports that Greene, Guthrie, Dallas and Adair counties are at a slight risk for severe weather throughout Tuesday. By Wednesday, Greene County is predicted to drop down to marginal risk, while the majority of Guthrie, Dallas and Adair counties remain in a slight risk. Thursday, most of our counties will be in the marginal risk area for severe weather. A slight risk means severe thunderstorms could develop, which are not widespread in coverage and may have various levels of intensity.

The National Weather Service says there could be large hail and damaging winds that could happen over the next three days, with lots of lightning, heavy rainfall and the possibility of isolated tornadoes. The highest potential for severe weather is predicted to fall between 3 and 11pm Tuesday through Thursday. Over the next three days, the National Weather Service is estimating between one to two-inches of rain possible in our area.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team provides live, uninterrupted coverage of severe weather incidents until the threats drop to below severe levels or move out of our primary coverage area.
