acgcTonight track and field athletes from across the West Central Activities Conference will converge on Ogden High School for the conference meet. ACGC girls head coach Colin Shawgo thinks his squad could be a contender for the conference crown.

Shawgo thinks they have a shot against heavyweight Panorama to claim the team title. “Really I think we’re a dark horse to win that championship. Panorama is obviously the favorite but we’ve had a couple meets where we’ve been right on their tails point-wise and I think if we go out and give out the best performance that we possibly can we’ll have a decent chance to knock them off that pedestal.”

Last year the Charger girls placed third with 96 points, while Panorama won the meet in Madrid with 168. The Charger boys finished in sixth place with 52 points, while the host Tigers won the meet with 166. Individually Lauryn Embleton and Kate Crawford are returning champions for the girls. Events have been moved up in the afternoon to help avoid incoming severe weather. Field events begin at 2:45pm and running events at 3:15 from Ogden High School.
