ADM Tigers

The toughest Raccoon River Conference challenge to date happens tonight for the state-ranked Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers boys and girls soccer teams. The Tigers and the Winterset Huskies renew their league rivalry with ADM Stadium hosting the boy’s match, and Winterset entertains the girl’s contest.

The No. 6 ADM boys soccer team (7-2 overall) returned to the winning side of the ledger Monday night with a 6-1 victory over the Nevada Cubs. Six different Tigers registered one goal apiece including seniors Davis Barton, Dakota Kahler, Herberto Ponce, and Eli Schwarzkopf, junior Braidon Lee, and sophomore Justin Schumacher. The Tigers enter tonight’s rivalry match against Winterset with a perfect 2-0 record against Raccoon River Conference opponents. The Huskies counter with a 4-0 conference mark and a 7-3 overall record. Winterset has lost three of their previous four matches including a pair of tournament games last weekend.

The No. 6 ADM girls soccer team (7-1 overall) continued their Raccoon River Conference dominance Monday with a 10-0 road victory over the Boone Toreadors (0-6 overall). ADM ended the game with 11 minutes remaining the final half due to Iowa’s 10 goal mercy rule, improving their league mark to 3-0. The win is the seventh in a row since losing by penalty kicks to Class 2A No.5 Norwalk (9-1 overall) on April 12. Winterset enters tonight’s game with a 5-2 overall record, but both of their losses have come at home against state-ranked opponents in Class 1A No. 8 Gilbert (2-0) and Class 2A No. 5 Norwalk (2-1). Weather permitting, the kickoff of both contests is 7 p.m. Listen to the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s local sports page tomorrow for a recap of the games.
