Three different sports are on the Greene County High School sports calendar for today including an important Heart of Iowa Activities Conference boys’ soccer match. Coach Carl Behne’s Rams were ranked sixteenth in Class 1A last week, but dropped out of the May 2 rankings from the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association and have been replaced by today’s opponent, North Polk (Alleman). The Rams take an 8-5 record into the 4:30 p.m. varsity match this afternoon in Grand Junction. The Comets are 5-0, so they’ve played just 38% as many matches as Greene County, and the five NP opponents have a combined 10-35 win/loss record.
Also on today’s calendar, the Greene County track & field teams wrap up their regular seasons in Alleman at the North Polk Coed Meet at 5 p.m. The Rams go to Manson for a 2A State Qualifying Meet one week from today.
There’s boys’ golf with the Rams playing at South Hamilton this afternoon.
