Guthrie Center SignOn Wednesday, the City of Guthrie Center released their 2017 Water Quality Report. Based on the report the City is currently not in violation of any contaminants.

The report measured several contaminant levels, including: lead, copper, chlorine, barium, selenium, fluoride, sodium, and nitrates. The tests were completed between March and November of last year, with the exception of Barium and Selenium, which were conducted in July of 2014. In most categories, the City’s rate of contamination was 50-80% below the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL). The one exception to that ratio was copper, which was only about 40% below the MCL rate.

Last November the Iowa Department of Public Health announced Guthrie Center as one 50 Water Fluoridation Quality Award winning communities for their consistently acceptable levels of fluoride in drinking water through 2016. The full report can be seen below:
