A late addition to the Greene County boys’ track & field schedule resulted in a successful end to the regular season for head coach Chad Morton’s team. The Rams were in the Nodaway Valley Invitational and finished in third place with 83 points and they took just 13 boys to the meet. Mount Ayr was the winner with 92 points, just ahead of the 90 points Pleasantville scored. Interstate 35 (Truro) scored 80, with 70 by Nodaway Valley, 62 from Clarinda Academy, 49 by Ogden, 36 for Martensdale-St. Mary’s, 18 from Bedford, and nine points by Grand View Christian (Des Moines).

Coach Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio his team had seven performances that were personal or season bests, or tied a PR or SB. The Rams had first place finishes from sophomore Carter Morton in the high jump at 6′ 2″ and the 400 meter low hurdles in :58.64. It was was the first time Morton ran the low hurdles this season and it resulted in a PR and he tied his high jump PR. Morton was second in the 110 meter high hurdles in :16.17. Sophomore Colby Kafer had a PR in winning the long jump at 20′ 7″  and the Rams won the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:37.05. Senior Kolin Reed was second in the high jump at 5′ 10″.

The Greene County boys and girls head to Manson on Thursday for a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet starting at 4 p.m.
