Members of the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers track and field teams will battle to continue their season into next week tonight in Atlantic. The Class 3A State Qualifying Meet hosted by the Trojans features athletes from Atlantic, Carroll, Creston, Denison-Schleswig, Glenwood, Harlan, and Winterset. The Class 3A state qualifying criteria include the top two performances from each event will automatically qualify for next week’s state meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Class 3A state meet also invites the next eight nonautomatic qualifying performances statewide to compete at the Blue Oval.

According to Quikstats Iowa, the ADM girls track team has five events that rank first in the Atlantic State Qualifying group ahead of tonight’s meet including the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, the 800-meter run, the long jump, and the sprint medley relay. The Tigers also have seven events where they rank second overall including the 100 and 400-meter hurdles, the 400-meter dash, and three relay races including the 4×100, 4×200, and the shuttle hurdle relay. The ADM boys track team has multiple event performances that rank second ahead of today’s state qualifying meet including the 110 and 400-meter hurdles, the boys high jump, and the 4×800 meter relay. The ADM boys track team doesn’t hold a top ranking in any event. Field events for tonight’s Class 3A State Qualifying meet start at 4 p.m. and running events commencing around 4:30 p.m. from Atlantic High School.
