Perry High School senior Breanna Penenger has accomplished a lot over the last four years, and it culminated Wednesday afternoon as she performed in the Outstanding Performance Showcase at Iowa State University.
Penenger’s vocal solo was named “Best of Center” at the Iowa High School Music Association Class 3A Solo and Ensemble Festival, which was held on March 24th at Greene County High School. As a reward, she was selected to be one of a few to perform in the ISU Showcase. Penenger sang her solo, “Art is Calling for Me,” from the musical The Enchantress by Victor Herbert, and her performance was live streamed on the Perry Vocal Music Facebook page.
The performance wrapped up the high school career of Penenger, which included accolades such as: three-time All-State Chorus selection; “I” ratings for four straight years at the Solo and Ensemble Festival; an Outstanding Performer Award for her role in last year’s production of “Peter Pan”; selected to All-State for individual speech contest in solo musical theater; and numerous honor band and choir selections. She will graduate from high school this month, and will be attending ISU in the fall to study music education.
