The Panorama Panther boys golf team did enough to advance their season to this week’s district tournament at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course. The postseason trail began in Menlo last Friday at the 5 x 80 golf course as Panorama played 18 holes against golfers from seven other regional schools. The top two lowest scoring teams and the three best individual scores from nonqualifying teams advanced to this weeks district tournament. Behind a medalist performance from sophomore Kolby Shackelford, the Panorama boys golf team advanced the entire squad for the district tournament with a second-place team score of 323. The Des Moines Christian Lions won the sectional event with a low score of 318. Shackelford topped the individual standings with a one under 71 for the competition. The other three scoring golfers for Panorama were freshman including Ryan Klinge carding an 81, Lucas Lieferman scoring 85, and Wyatt Appleseth registering 86. The Panthers will have home course advantage as they host the district tournament Friday morning at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora. The top two placing teams and the three lowest individual scores are invited to the Class 2A State Golf Tournament May 24-25 at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course in Marshalltown.
