ADM Tigers

Tonight the Adel-Desoto-Minburn boy’s soccer program will recognize the careers of nine senior players when the Tigers host the Carslile Wildcats tonight. One of the seniors making impacts that you won’t see on the final stat sheet is Ethan Meyer. Meyer only has one shot on goal, and three assists tallied on the quikstats team statistics page sheet this spring. However, the amount of opposing scoring chances he’s halted as a starting defender are immeasurable. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network was on hand as the ADM boys soccer team posted back-to-back shutouts against Winterset and Perry last Monday and Tuesday. Meyer’s play in the back helped ease the nerves of junior goalie Conner Chappell, who made his varsity debut last week filling in for the injured TJ Klocke. Fellow senior classmate Davis Barton was highly complimentary of Meyer’s play after ADM’s 1-0 road victory over Perry in double overtime last Tuesday. “He’s been stepping up; he’s been very vocal in the back,” Barton said, “He’s earned the captains band, he’s been conducting the team from the back on up. He’s helped (Chappell) to see the whole field and not to get too nervous.”

ADM head boys soccer coach Bill Sheilds was pleased that Raccoon Valley Radio saw the effort put forth by Meyer. “He’s the man at the moment and has been since the beginning of the season,” Sheild said, “He’s a bit of an unsung hero, and I’m glad you noticed. Because I’ve certainly noticed and been very very impressed.

The ADM Tiger boys soccer team can clinch at least a share of the Raccoon River Conference championship tonight when the Carlisle Wildcats invade ADM Stadium for a league contest. The varsity game kicks off around 7 p.m. from Adel.
