A few Greene County residents were recently elected to serve as state level officers for a non-profit organization.
Bill Beger was selected to be the Iowa State Elks President. He was installed by the 2010 Past State President Les Fister. Serving alongside Beger will be Sargent-of-Arms Steve Smith and State Chaplain Cliff Said. Beger is the fourth Jefferson Elks member to serve as the state president. Past State Presidents include: Ed Stoline, Steve Brown and Les Fister. Another Jefferson Elk also received a prestigious honor. Fister was named “Iowa State Elk of the Year.”
The mission of the Elks is to build stronger communities and doing that through fidelity, justice, brotherly love and charity.
